Migrate any WordPress Site from One Host to Another Host – Easy Step by Step Guide 2018

Migrating a wordpress site from one host to another host may be a hard task for many wordpress users.

If you are a beginner or you have not so much skills in wordpress then this article is made for you. No technical knowledge is requires for this task. Its easy as just 1, 2, 3 and go live on new host.

In next few easy steps, I am going to tell you a hassle free way to migrate your full wordpress site from one host to another host in a easy way without losing a single file.

No special technical knowledge required. No need to enter database details manually. Within few clicks migrate your wordpress site completely.

How to Migrate Full Site

For migrating your wordpress site you need a free backup plugin called Updraft Plugin and Google Drive storage account. Go and signup for it. Its free and each account have free 15GB of storage.

Perform This Step on Your Existing Host

Open your wordpress dashboard. Go to Plugins => Add New

Search “UpdraftPlus” in search box. This plugin has 1 million + active installs

Install “UpdraftPlus WordPress Backup Plugin” Activate it.


Now in left menu go to  Setting => UpdraftPlus Backups

Click on UpdraftPlus Plugin Settings.


Click on Google Drive.


Tick the all 4 options in “Include in files backup” section

Scroll down the page below and hit Save Change Button


Generating backup will take few seconds to minutes. It depend on your site data sixe. When your site backup is ready, You can see it in Existing Backups


You can that your full site backup is ready including Database, Plugins, Themes and Uploads. Its copy is also stored in your Google Drive. a folder with name updraft will automatically will be created in your Google Drive Account.

Perform Next Step On Your New Host

Make sure you have changed the new nameservers of your domain name provided by your new host. Update nameservers in your registrar domain control panel. Updating DNS takes time to resolve with your domain and host provider. Wait till it resolve.

Login to your cPanel on your New Host. Install wordpress through Softaculous Auto Installer.


Click on WordPress to Install it.

On next page click on Install Now


On next page follow the instruction and enter details.

Here while entering details, enter login or admin mail that you have entered  in previous host.

After installation of wordpress  save all new login details.

Open your domain name in address bar. You will see homepage wordpress default theme of wordpress.

Now Login to your wordpress dashboard on your new host.

Open your wordpress dashboard on your new host with new login details.

Now perform the same previous step.

Go to Plugins and install “UpdraftPlus” Backup plugin again on your new host. Activate this plugin.

Click Setting => UpdraftPlus Backups in left side of your dashboard on your new host.

Tap on Existing Backup button



You will see backup data there.

Important Note: If you have used a different mail id while registering for wordpress on new host. This backup will not show here. Use the same id on new host that you have used on old host for as a admin mail while installing wordpress.

After that click on Restore Blue button. A popup will appear.


Tick all the 4 option of plugins, themes, uploads, others and database.

Click on Restore button.

By clicking restoration process will begin.

Do not close or refresh the window of your pc or laptop.

When restore complete follow the instruction appeared on the screen.

Congratulations…… You have successfully migrated your site to new host.

Don’t remove Updraft Backup plugin from your site. It will generate daily backup of your site. If there is some mishappening, your data will be safe on google drive. you can restore that data any time.

Common Errors 

After completing all steps, open your site. If your site opening fine, then start writing or posting new contents.

If you see missing style sheet or design of your site, then update your  version of wordpress to latest one.

Issue will resolve.
